Join the Angel Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) to help monitor and reduce crimes affecting trading in the area. The group, coordinated by the BID, is made up of businesses, police, and council members keen to problem-solve a range of issues. Crime data is shared at each meeting and businesses can report issues of concern. The BCRP meets quarterly and focuses on:

  • Shoplifting and robbery
  • Anti-social behaviour and begging
  • Rough sleeping
  • StopWatch (tackling excessive stop and search)
  • Pubwatch
  • Any other relevant issues as decided by the partnership

A set of performance indicators have also been decided against which progress is being measured. These are:

  • Businesses reporting shoplifting - increasing reports by 10% to 32% annually
  • Reduce crimes in Islington by 2% from 8.5% (quarterly)
  • Overall level of crime in Angel to reduce by 2% from 2023 base line (quarterly)
  • Angel businesses overall safety rating to increase from 59% to 63% annually
  • Number of prosecutions, ASB warning notices, CPOs etc (quarterly)
  • Number of people sleeping on the streets receiving contact within 48 hours (quarterly)

The next BCRP meeting takes place on Monday, June 17, at 9.30am, at DoubleTree by Hilton London Angel Kings Cross hotel, 60 Pentonville Road. Aden Hawsh from the Cyber Resilience Centre for London will talk about risks and how to make your business more secure.
