Have your say on Islington Council private landlords proposal

Consultation is underway on Islington Council's plans for a licensing system for private landlords in the borough.
With the growth of the private rented sector in recent years, the Council is keen to offer more protection for private renters to protect the health, safety and welfare of occupants and prevent poorly managed and unsafe homes. The Council's two-part proposal is to:
- Extend its Additional Licensing scheme for small HMOs covering all wards for another five years after the current programme expires in February 2026.
- Expand its Selective Licensing scheme to include Barnsbury, Caledonian, Tufnell Park, Mildmay, Highbury, Junction, Laycock, Canonbury, and Clerkenwell wards, as they meet the criteria and would benefit from the adoption of the scheme.
