Business Crime Prevention update - September
Our Business Crime Team has been diligently addressing crime and begging issues in the Angel area, and we’re pleased to share several recent achievements:
- A repeat offender was charged after caught trying to break in to the After Noah shop. The man has been charged with criminal damage and is currently awaiting his court appearance.
- A male who frequently targeted UNIQLO has been charged with five counts of theft.
- A Community Protection Notice (CPN) was issued to a persistent offender who had been terrorising store staff at Blank Street Coffee, Jimmy Fairly, and Cubitts by stealing and making threats of violence. After breaching the CPN, a warrant has been issued for his arrest, and he is now actively being sought by police.
- A woman who had been targeting Anthropologie, stealing thousands of pounds worth of goods, and assaulting staff, has been identified through our partnership with Islington Council's outreach team. She is currently awaiting an interview with the police.
- A male offender who had been targeting the Reiss store has been identified and is awaiting an interview as part of an ongoing investigation.
- Officers from the Business Crime Team successfully detained a known offender who stole from Hotel Chocolat and is also being dealt with for thefts from Reiss. This incident will be added to his list of offences as part of the ongoing case.
- A male repeat offender, previously unknown but wanted in connection with thefts from Hotel Chocolat and Waterstones, has now been successfully identified and is awaiting an interview with the police.
These recent cases highlight the dedication and effectiveness of our Business Crime Team and emphasise the importance of collaboration with local businesses and partner organisations. We remain committed to ensuring the safety and security of our community. Contact the BID’s Business Crime Manager Gerry Morgan at Gerry@angelislington.london for crime prevention advice and support.
