A walking tour celebrating Islington’s rich Jewish history and landmarks has been launched.

The ‘Untold Stories Islington Jewish Heritage Trail’ shares the stories of Jews that lived, worked and thrived in the Borough over the past 300 years. Their backgrounds and journeys are eclectic, from Prime Ministers and musicians, to prisoners and refugees. Learn how a migrant and religious minority community contributed to the borough and shaped the identity and heritage of the city and the nation as a whole.

You can either go on a self-guided tour by using the virtual map available on the Untold Stories website, or contact organisers at info@jewishislington.co.uk to book a guided walking tour led by a local historian. Printed maps are also being distributed to all libraries across the borough.

The Islington Jewish Heritage Trail is one of 70 ‘Untold Stories’ projects across London, part of a £1 million Mayor of London fund to help communities test, develop, create and grow projects that share their community’s stories with the city. The trail has been delivered by Chabad Lubavitch of Islington.
